The process
How hot-dip galvanizing protects steel
Unlike paint, galvanizing forms a metallurgical bond with the steel itself. The zinc coating corrodes sacrificially, protecting the base metal even at cut edges, drilled holes and scratches — with no site repainting for decades.

Degreasing & pickling
Steel is cleaned of oils, rust and mill scale so the zinc can bond directly to sound metal.

Fluxing
A flux bath prevents oxidation before dipping and promotes a uniform, adherent coating.
- 03
Molten zinc immersion
Fabricated steel is immersed in molten zinc at around 450°C, forming metallurgically bonded zinc-iron alloy layers.

Cooling & inspection
Coating thickness and finish are checked against specification before dispatch.
